Add new channel to DIRECTV receiver

I hear my friend talking about that we can add more channel to DirecTV Receiver by buy some SMART CARD READER/WRITER and use it to write some number or information to DirecTV CARDs that we can receiver any channel as we want, is this true, help me because i want to watch Discovery Channel... without paying $40/mo
