Hello everybody. I come again to plead for help for a problem I have.

I recently completed building my new computer. I just finished installing the usual...operating system, antivirus, and other programs.
I am using MS Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 OEM Version

    Now, the problem:
After installing everything and confirming that it works, I (just out of curiosity) went to Control Panel and clicked "Add or Remove Programs"
It just keeps displaying "Please wait while the list is being populated...", and yet nothing loads. It could not be just long load-times, because I eliminated that possibility by leaving it on the "Please wait while the list is being populated..." screen for 10 minutes.

It's not that I need to remove any programs at the moment, but I would like my computer to have the ability to remove the programs in the future without doing it manually in the registry. I've done some research on google about this but a lot of the results don't actually match my problem, and a lot of them are just links to un-answered forum posts regarding this issue.

I am hoping that this is a very small problem that can be easily solved without hassle.
    Thanks in advance.

    Nope, doesn't work.

Any other ideas? I heard this was supposed to be a well-known problem in Windows.

Well I did not get that easy cleaner program, but got another program to replace the faulty Add/Remove Programs application that Windows gave me, and that one is working fine.

Is it okay to not use the Add/Remove given from Windows and use a third-party program to do the same thing?

The faulty Add/Remove Programs application does not suggest that another Windows component is faulty, does it?
