First of all, I would just like to say that this website is the best I have ever found for computer stuff. With that said, on to my question. Whenever I try to double-click on the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel, it doesn't open. I'm not sure why it happens, so please help me out.

    Try doubleclicking on C:\Windows\System32\appwiz.cpl

I hit this page with a Google search for a fix to the same problem. Hopefully NeeKnight already found this solution after checking the M$ support website.

    SYMPTOMS
When you try to open the Add/Remove Programs tool in Windows 2000, it does not open and you do not receive an error message. The window may appear briefly, but then it disappears.

    CAUSE
This issue may occur if a registry entry is missing.

    RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, add the missing registry entries:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type [bold]cmd[/bold], and then press ENTER.

In the Command window, type [bold]regsvr32 mshtml.dll[/bold], and then press ENTER.
Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.

In the Command window, type [bold]regsvr32 shdocvw.dll -i[/bold], and then press ENTER.
Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.

In the Command window, type [bold]regsvr32 shell32.dll -i[/bold], and then press ENTER.

Click OK to confirm that the registry entry has been added.
