added new dvd writer Toshiba to p4 256meg 80gig drive pc- as slave on secondary channel- managed to copy a dvd from another computer on the network which ran on other machines , howver, when attempting to play a new movie dvd on the same machine the following happens using nero 6 to play black screen - but music plays microsoft media player some picture occasionally stutters and sound breaks up pro dvd player - similiar better picture but sound all chopped up real player worse picture and sound- is there a normal likely culprit here ? norton, video card or?? I am new at this DVd stuff thanks
i changed the setting in nero to decode with hardware instead of software - not get picture and sound but both are very choppy- canot change decode option in windows medial player it stays grayed out!! could this be a codec problem? what is a codec anyway? appreciate any comments
