I have a Dell Dimension 2400. This thing has a integrated sound card that blows goats, so i am looking around for a decent one that works with surround sound.

I have been able to add on a new video card (as Dell also has its own integrated video), and just disable Dell's integrated one. But if i add another sound card to the computer, i am wondering if i just disable the integrated soundcard, and then the new one (a PCI card most likely) will work fine?

install new soundard, go into the bios to disable the onboard sound, go into safemode to remove old sound driver(s) than install new driver(s) in normal mode.
