I just got an iPod, and I used to use a Dell DJ (it was free...) and the program that was sent with the DJ, i could add a folder of songs to a playlist directly... The last few days, i've been playing with iTunes and I can only add folders to my library and then sift through all those songs and find the ones i need and then copy them over.... i was wondering if anyone knew how i can Add folder to Playlist??? I would use a different program, but I like the auto-sync feature.... Thanks in advance...

Here's a quick way of importing a whole folder to a playlist.

    -Import the folder into iTunes
-Click the 'Date Added' button to arrange your tunes in order of the date they were added to your iTunes library.

-Your newly imported songs will either be at the very top or the very bottom depending on whether you have arranged them in ascending order or descending order.
-Highlight your newly-imported songs by holding the control ([bold]Ctrl[/bold]) button and clicking on those songs. Once all the songs you want to add to a playlist are highlighted in blue, right click on one of them, and scroll down to 'Add to Playlist'.

Select your playlist, and that's it -- mission complete.

Is there a way that I can automatically update a specific playlist, but then manually update the rest of the Library?

No. You can either Auto-Update or Manual-Update, but unfortunately, you cannot do them both simultaneously.

if you mean to automatically playlist to the Ipod, you can open the preferences and go to ipod, and select only update the selected playlist.... Wouldn't that work?

No, because then it wouldn't even consider the other playlist(s) which jazo would also like to see on his iPod but not update..
