I currently have the following PC parts:

    Motherboard: ASUS Rampage II Extreme
    CPU: Intel i7 920
    Cooler: V1 AX Air Cooler
    PSU: Antec 500W
    HD: 2 x 500 GB, 7200RPM
    Video Card: EAH4870X2
    RAM: 6.00 GB

I am planning to buy the Ultra X3 1000W Modular power supply, Corsair Core i7 Dominator.

Are these two upgrades good for my system and will it make my system faster? Also, should I change any other of my parts like my video card?

The ram is good but I would get something with lower wattage like the corsair 750W PSU. You wont need anything more than that unless you plan to crossfire. Are you currently running your 4870x2 with the antec 500W? cause if so its a miracle its even running.

Yes I am running my 4870x2 with my antec500W. But is there anything else I should upgrade?

Avoid 'Ultra" power supplies. They are junk. If your Antech500 is powering everything, then keep it. If not (or things get instable sometimes), a Corsair 750W is a great choice. Corsair does cost more, but it is an investment that will be passed down to future computers.

The memory is good, but I am not sure it will make things much faster.

Here is a crazy idea for an upgrade...

What are the last two components used for?

Component 2 is the raid card, it lets you turn 4 15K drives into one 60K drive (sort of, seek speeds will be about the same as the 15K drive & transfer speeds will be about the same as a 60K drive).

Component 3 is the cable required to connect everything together.

Note that this is server stuff...you need an enterprise level RAID card (such as the one I listed) to run these hard drives, they cannot run of the mainboard.
