I was wondering if I need to add some new hardware because, I want to play games faster. Here are my specs: CPU: Intel Quad Core 3.01 GHZ RAM: 4.00 GB Sound: SoundFX 2 Video Card: EAH3870 512MB Hard Drive: 512GB OS: Windows Vista Home Premium I was thinking of getting another ATi HD3870 512MB card to add to my pc for more GPU speed and power. Are there any suggestions that my system can improve? Thanks!
my mother board is a ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA Special edition. So if i get another 3870 will it increase my gpu speed alot , which will allow me to play games faster? Thanks!
Ok, well yes. I have that same motherboard and is compatible, but remember that not all games support CrossFire. In games that dont, you will only see the performance of one GPU. In games that do, you will notice an improvement. Just remeber to uninstall and reinstall your drivers when you get you new card. Also, you can crossfire a 3870X2 and the 3870 you have now, if you have the funds. Or, you can wait for the 4 series that will be out very soon. (In June)
Well so far there is just rumors, but from what I read, the 4870 will be better than the 9800GX2, or match it in performance. It will also have a 1Ghz+ clock for the core, and I believe there will be a X2 model out after the 4870 is released. Prices are estimated around $400 for the 4870 model. Here's some stuff I found: In addition, here are some articles: http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7623.html http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7638.html http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7356.html
so if I get the ATI 4870 will it be the best video card? And will it let me run cyrsis with high settings? Thx
Well your 3870 should already be able to run Crysis with High Settings DX9 at a ok resolution. The 4870 should allow you to run all Very High DX10 at probably 1680x1050 at least... Once again, these are rumors. Nothing has been officially clarified by ATi so there is a slight possibility that the 4870 can end up to be like the 2900XT.
