How much RAM was already in the computer? Different motherboards have different limits to the amount of RAM they can use. Cheaper ones generally support less than more expensive ones. Being a cheap PC, yours probably only supports 512MB, but it can be as low as 256MB.
did you purchase your RAM from Crucial? if you did they will be able to help or return it because they offer 100% compatibility guarantee, if it wasnt from them you may have an incompatible stick of RAM, different sticks have different properties, ie number of chips and timings. Try and swap for another stick or buy the one crucial offers. hope it helps
it had 128 and i wish it was from cruial lol !!! i took out the 128 and put in the 256 only and i got 1-3-3-1 post beeps which means 28 Autosize DRAM what the hell does that mean ??? thanx guys !!!
Hi, sorry not sure what the error means, if it was autosizing and didnt boot then i just assume you have incompatible memory. The stuff from Crucial site would be best but at 50quid its a bit expensive for 256MB!!!! Not sure what else to suggest other than return your stick and try another or dig deep and go to Crucial! Sorry not much help there was i
