When I add subtitle to a dvd ripped file using virtual dub I do not encounter any problem. Using the same method with a BluRay ripped file it does not work. The problem occurs when you come to 'Filter' and choose 'add' then 'TextSub2.23' and choose the 'srt' or 'ssa' subtitle then click open and the subtitle does not open. Is there something that I am missing out? or is there and new version of virtual dub that is compatible with Bluray ripped avi files.
If it's an .ssa file and you use the 'Subtitler' filter (which has the 'Preview' feature) - do the subs show in the preview?
Thanks for your reply Attar With dvd ripped movies this is the steps I adopt. Open virtualdub Open video file Then 'video' - 'filters' - 'add' Textsub2.23 (Double click) Textsub settings - open 'subtitle file' srt After that its OK and OK Then select compression and save file as avi and the program chungs away - success. This file a movie ripped from blue ray disc with subtitle separately. Want to encode the subtitle into the movie for the foreign language. Movie - The Da Vinci Code BRRip.Xvid.AC3.5.1 Subtitle - The Da Vinci Code BRrip.Xvid.AC3.5.1 When I come to the Textsub settings and open the subtite file all I get is blank and I can't proceed further. I even have two other movies which are blueray ripped movies encountering the same problem. What other programs should I use?
If you open the sub in Subtitle Workshop, does it list them and show the times in chronological order.
Hi Attar Yes when I open the sub in Subtitle Workshop it list them and show the times in chronological order.
If you load a Non-BR rip to VirtualDub can you load the Da Vinci subs ok (I assume they will work)? Can you convert the subs to another format (srt > ssa > ass ?)with Subtitle Workshop and test.
Yes Attar non-BRrip works fine. Ok will do some experiments (God help me) and will get back to you Thanks Attar for your time will catch up with you later...
Hi Attar I copied the text from the blu ray ripped subs to the dvd ripped subs notepad. And the miracle worked. Encoding the subs into the movie went without a hitch. So what I have done was to use one of the dvd ripped notepad as a template for future subs encoding. This may seem a little crude but it works. Just curious to know why the blu ray ripped subs do not open as it should when double clicking Textsub 2.23.
If you feel like it, zip and upload the problem subtitle file to MediaFire and I'll try to load it into a video with VirtualDub.
