additional DVDRom

    Just want install additional DVDRom (i have CDROm installed). Is there some shortcomings/drawback of using two CD-Rom/DVD-Rom devices on one PC? Meaning affecting on motherboard stability, system reliability, other. Normally better to have one CDRom or DVDRom device per motherboard.

    No there should be no drawbacks if you have enough IDE slots for 2 drives plus the HDD.

    If you open up your computer and there are 2 IDE cables going from the motherboard 1 to your CD-Rom and 1 to your HDD then you can add the DVD-rom to the cable that has your CD-Rom on it.

    If your CD-Rom is not a burrner then it really shouldnt matter where you place the DVD-Rom or CD-ROM (Just make sure that 1 drive is set to Master and the other is set to Slave and place the master at the end of the cable and slave in the middle). But if the CD-ROM is a burrner then you will want to set that as MASTER and place it at the end of the IDE cable. Then place the DVD-ROM as SLAVE and place it in the middle of the IDE cable.

    yes, there is primary IDE Connector and secondary IDE Connector. CD-ROM is burner. So it necessary set CDRom as Master, and DVDRom as a Slave? This IDE cable is in motherboard already, not comes with DVDRom?

    Are you going to buy a DVD-ROM? Or a DVD Burrner?

    DVD-ROM means it will just read DVD's not burn them.

    In anycase you will have an IDE cable in your computer. The only problem you might have is the IDE cable might only have an end conector and not a middle 1.

    But you still should be fine because you should get an IDE cable with the new DVD-ROM/BURRNER with a middle and end connection.

    If this is a DVD Burnner then you will want to make the DVD burrner Master and place that at the end of the IDE cable. Then set the CD burrner as SLAVE and set that in the middle.

    If this is only a DVD-ROM which only reads DVD's then set the CD-Burrner as MASTER and at the end of the cable and set the DVD-ROM as SLAVE and in the middle of the IDE cable.

    This DVD+/-R/RW (burner). Can I leave my CDRom burner as a Master and set DVD Burnner as a Slave? I fully satisfy with my CDRom burner.

    I would recomend you to set the DVD Burrner as master and the CD burrner as slave.
