I am a newby but have been working on video editing and authoring for about a year. I have tried several programs and the most recent one is premiere elements. However, the 1st time I installed it, my system crashed. I was able to finally get it installed & it worked o.k. for awhile, but periodically when I try to open the program I get an error message & instructions to reinstall. Each time I reinstall, my system crashes. I have other programs that I as I do quite a few DVD's and have not had a chance to really learn premiere elements. With these constant crashes, I am concerned if I really want to. Eventually I would like to advance to a higher level program & from reading this forum, I believe adobe premiere pro is my best bet, which was a major factor in my choice of elements now. Has anyone else had crash problems with adobe premiere elements or other adobe programs? Other video programs I have on my computer are Photodex, Cyberlink PowerDirector, Nero, Roxie DVD creator. Can these type of programs be installed at the same time or am I creating conflicts by having all of these on? I have a 160G harddrive & 766M memory with a 2G Intel Pentium 4 processor--Dell Optiplex gx260 & windows XP. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would really appreciate any guidance.
Nero and Roxio do not like each other and will cause conflicts on your system. You should decide which one you like and then remove the one you don't.
Thank you for your reply. I just want to clarify my problem; I have learned from this forum before that roxio & nero usually do not get along, but I tried them & have had both for a couple of years with no problem. It has just been since Premiere Elements joined them & the problem is with Premiere. Are you saying that the conflict between Nero & Roxio is at the bottom of the Premiere problems? I'm uninstalling Roxio as we speak.
I have used adobe premiere elements before and all I can say is its total crap...I cant stand the program....pro is better but I think the best program has to be sony vegas 6.0 and yes when I had elements I had that same problem..
