why have the ads started showing for users that are logged in. I was under the impression that logged in users did not get the advertisement portion of the threads. if I am wrong please let me know it might have something to do w/ my pop-up blocker???
We haven't removed pops yet and haven't claimed that we've done so. We removed the "interstitials" for logged-in members, meaning that if you click a link to an outside site from our forums and you're logged in, you wont be shown a full-page ad before you reach the destination. We are planning to remove pops sometime near future for registered members, but not yet. Actually, first step towards this goal was that we removed all pops comptletely from our sister site, Filepedia.com, a week ago (just didn't announce it, as we wanted to see how the change effects the income, user participation levels, etc which are easier to track if the change goes unnoticed). But obviously all these changes come down to the fact that we need advertising money to keep the site rolling and hopefully to make it even better in future (you might have read about us looking to add one or two people to our content team in near future, etc). We simply need to find the right balance between user experience and ads, even tho I think that we're already doing quite well with that.
I was actually referring to the ads within threads did not show up til recently adn po-ups have never shown up escept when loggin on on another p.c. but it's a minor annoyance compared to the benfit i've seen being amember here @ad
