dont no where to post this thread so i hope its ok here. i have a adstech dvdxpress capture device and my question is -- i can not get it working ? have any of you used this and is there a workaround as wallmart will not refund my money i have returned this thing 5 times and each time the device might capture about 3 hrs video when it feels like it and then just quits capturing all together . i wish i new this was such junk as i didnt even start using it till about a mounth after i bought and then when i found out it was junk i tried to get my money back but the store declined to refund because the electronic device had past there 2 week return policy which sucks . so now im stuck trying to make this 85.00 paper weight to do something . please if anyone can help maybe i could return a favor some how . as severale threads i have floating around out there nobody has responded . im always glad to help when i can and i do pitch in and help quite a bit around hear. if u already can not tell im very desperate for a workaround with this da--- thing. thanks to any for taking time out and helping me!!!

well when i run the capwiz app or any of the ulead progs - i thought ulead was supose to be able to capture from the device to- the capturing device will not turn on and start capturing. when i first installed everything , it would work some of the time . but now cant get the light to go green and start the capture at all . tried updating drivers ,tried reinstalling everything , dloaded previous drivers and capwiz progs from there web page and installing all that crap . and still no go . the light stays red . everything is connected properly i even upgraded to a pci highspeed usb card as recomended . my pc is a 1900 amd with 528 mb of ram . not the best , but it is above the required minimum to run this device and the editing apps. i even exchanged this darn thing multiple times thinking it was the machine . then tried xchanging again cause i didnt no what else to do and wallmart refused . so i bought two more to see if i could get them working ,and no luck . took them back the same day so i wouldnt get screwed out of my money like the first time . i have severale emailes i sent to adstech but no responses yet . it seems they dont give a sh_T either . it would be great to get it working because it did convert my 1st capture very well . i was really impressed .anyway i will quit going on about this - if anyone has any ideas please let me no . thanks a bunch

What version of windows are you running? I have the DVD 2.0 and had problems once I reformatted my hardrive and went from standard SP1 XP to Media Center Edition (SP2).

What I did was attempt to do a recover through the start menu, accessories, system restore. I went back to a date when the capture card actually did work.

Unfortunately for me, I had GOBack previously on my computer so it didn't system restore but I think it did and just said it didn't.

Anyway, then I went to the capwiz on my desktop, right clicked, Properties and changed the compatibility to Windows 2000. Somehow after that it worked again.

I'm still going to get a new card though, because no ADS products are compatible with MCE2005 and they aren't all that good (because they use USB) but I've made tons of compilations with my card and ADS technical help is basically non-exsistant. In the two years I've had this capture card, their technical support has made me do stupid things over and over with no help, so I hope that technique as I've described above can help. If not, we'll go from there.

thank you for your input as i have figured out the problems i am having . one thing the instruction booklet neglected to tell us users is that your screen resolution must be at least 1024 x 768 in order for the device to work properly . i tried every possible combination trying to get the device to work with complete failer till i tried the screen resolution . it makes no sense to me because i have the device pluged in to the pc not the moniter . one would think that any resolution would activate the device ,whether or not it could be veiwed properly is another story . i no i have had to change the resolution for some progs to work but had no idea it is also needed by externale usb device. i really like the quality of video it produces , i have used some low end pc cards that have captured video very badly . it would drop so many frames it was almost like watching a dvd with the skip to the next chapter button stuck. though you are right they have no customer service whatsoever they do have a nice product once you iron out all the detailes.
