Hey guys I have been reading around a bunch of different forums and it seems like the pansat 2700a is the way to go. I want something that is very user friendly cause this is uncharted water for me and I honestly have no clue where to even start. Any advice on receivers, dishes, etc would be appreciated. I am looking forward to knowledgable advice so I can get this project kicked off. Thanx in advance. P.S. Feel free to pm me if you want.
The 2700 is an excellent starter box. Easy to program and has good support for any updates needed in the future. As to dishes, I use an old Direct TV 18 inch dish and get over 450 channels off 2 sats with it. When you make your purchase of the receiver, make sure its a REAL Pansat and not a clone. Many of the update bin files will make clone receivers a door stop for you. Here is a good forum to start with. http://www.future-fta.info/forum/index.php Read the newbie/getting started sections on the 2700. Have fun. Jerry
Thank you Jerry, that info really helps. I was wondering if I should use two sat or one. I already have two,one old dnetwork and a dtv sat. I saw a site that sold these sats that could hit 8 or 16 sats but I really didn't understand the lnb(something like that)it asked if I prefered single or dual. Anyhow I am off to check out that forum.
Off one stationary dish you may be able to get 3 different sat signals depending on how many LNBs you have on it (one for each bird). To get more than that you would probably need to motorize the dish with a positioner. Kind of like the old rotor TV antennas. You could then move the dish to the sat you want to receive the signals from and change it at will with the motor. That setup takes some time to get proper alignment and usually not for beginners but can be done. Most info you need can be found on that site. Lots of good reading. Let me know if you get stuck on anything you don't understand. You can combine the signal from multiple dishes to your receiver using the proper switch. They usually give you 1 switch when you purchase your receiver. The most common switch will combine 4 dishes to one receiver cable input. Jerry
