    Guys,

I saw the Dino PC's new Nanosaur PC built into a router sized case www.dinopc.com. This gave me an idea - obviously not a new one. I have a PS2 Slim lying in my attic. Would it be possible to use the PS2 as a PC case to build a PC with Atom / Ion combination with HDMI out as a Media Center PC for the HD TV?

I have zero experience in hardware building. Do you guys think it is worthwhile and possible to do so? Is there anybody who can guide me? I tried searching, but could not find enough information.

    Thanks,

    Turbovin

I have substantial experience in building P{C systems. I would not suggest a newbie to build a SFF as a first build. The heating issues that inevitably come up in these can be hard to diagnose and can end up in fatal hardware results. I do realize the Atom has few if any heat related issues but due to the very slim depth of the case, would have concerns about adequate cooling for the Ion chip. I would be tempted to punch holes to allow for better ventilation irregardless as to what the internal components were. Realize too that any HDDs usually run above 30C and would possibly need active cooling in this environment.

The Dino minis are quite interesting especially as they run Ubuntu by default. I would love to get my hands on one to test the thermals of it.

Thanks for your advice. Didn't realise all the heat related issues. Will do as suggested.
