I have tried 3-4 different burners and still have the same problem. I will burn multiple movies at the same time to a DVD (DVD+r), but when I try to play them some will play and some won't.

The movies will all play when the DVD is loaded into the computer. They will all show up on the menu in the DVD player, but when I select "that movie" and press play, it just skips to the next movie.

I am a total noob, so please feel free to talk down to my level.

    I have Power Iso v. 4.6 and Roxio Creator 2011 Pro v. 1.3

Is there a trick to burning DVDs so that all the movies will play?

Are you converting the likes of AVI files to DVD format?
If so, try DVD Flick or FAVC.

I'm so new, I don't know if I'm converting or not. I just add the files (avi)to the menu and burn. I choose data dvd. It may have something to do with the video file itself. I did not rip the dvd, I downloaded the file as is. All the files play on the computer. The problem occurs when I burn them. Tho they will all load & play when the dvd is put in the computer, they won't all play in the dvd player. Some of the movies will play, other won't. I've put 3, 4, 5, movies on one dvd and have had up to 3 of them play. It is always the same movie that won't play, that's what leads me to believe there's something about the video file itself.

I've been looking for tutorials to help. thanks for your input

A data DVD sounds like you are simply burning AVI files to play on a standalone DivX player.

Drag the problem file onto MediaInfo.
On the lower right of the pane, select 'Text' and export the info to a text file and paste the information here.

    Here goes...

I can tell that you are quite advanced, this info means nothing to me, but to the trained eye it will probably be glaringly obvious. I just hope that I can figure out how to "convert" or otherwise change the file into a normal one.

I assume Secretariat is ok?- it uses the divx codec.

    ....but Valentines Day is h264.

A standalone DVD player that is DivX certified wants to see DivX or Xvid AVI files.
Run AviDemux and drag the file onto the window.
Select 'Video' on the left/top and choose 'Xvid'.
'Audio' should be set as 'Copy.
    'Format' should be 'AVI'
Click 'File' > 'Save' > 'Save Video'.
Give the new file a name (including the extension) e.g. newfile.avi and save it.

Well, attar... I did exactly as you said. The avidemux took 6 hours to convert the file, and turned it into 2.2 gig from 700 mb. Still, not playing. And yes, the reason I listed secretariat previously was because it wouldn't play either. Just for fun I converted secretariat into divx on my divx plus converter to see if it would help. It only took 2 hours to convert, and shrank it from 800 mb to 450. Don't know what that was all about, one converter made the file twice as big, the other nearly half as small. At this point I don't care. Like I said, the movies play on the computer just fine, I can watch them there. My mom doesn't like to sit at the computer to watch movies, she likes to sit in her rocker and watch them on the tv. That's the only reason that I've put so much time & effort into this, but I'm done trying to figure this out. I only have so many hours a day to do things and this project took way too much up.

Thank you for your patience and help. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I never noticed the running time of the second movie is being reported as twelve seconds - which has to be wrong.
Also, the width is 1280 - the maximum for playback on a standalone player is 756.

If you want to try it, load that file into DVD Flick and create a DVD (in the Project settings, select NTSC if you are in North America or PAL if you are anywhere else).
