I was wanting to mount a daa image but magiciso, which I normally use for mounting images wasn't able. So I installed poweriso, ever since then my D: driver appears empty when any kind of disc is inserted, the light comes on & the disc symbol appears next to the pointer but that's it, no whirring noise of the drive. I've tried uninstalling poweriso but makes no difference & I've checked the device manager but that says the drive is working properly. I'm sure I had a similar problem when I installed magiciso but I can't remember. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as this is driving me nuts.
    Cheers.

Do you have a restore point which predates the PowerISO installation?

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

I've already tried that and it didn't make any difference.

If it's on an IDE controller, uninstall the channel and reboot.

Not 100% sure what I'm looking for. I looked in the device manager & in the IDE controllers I could't see any mention of my dvd/cd drive.

The dvd/cd drive is listed as master but not as slave as in your screenshot.

My Secondary Master is a DVD burner, the Slave unit is a DVD reader.

Assuming you drive is on the Secondary Channel, that (channel) is what would be uninstalled.

After restarting the dvd/cd now says insert disc when you double click on it. I also ran nero tools agaian this time it has DMA off & autorun on, will that make any difference? I also have migiciso still installed.

The dvd/cd drive is also listed in an unknown section in the device manager would it have to be uninstalled from there also before rebooting

I don't think Magic ISO affects anything as far as the drives.
DMA should be on for the DVD burner - DMA being the fastest data transfer setting.
Was it on before uninstalling the controller?
Your Hard drive, on the Primary Controller will be set as DMA, if you want to look.
It can be changed in the hardware manager by right clicking the controller, selecting 'Properties' and 'Advanced'.
It should show 'DMA if Available' and should also show the actual setting (some type of DMA).
If it shows the setting as being 'PIO', then it should be changed.
    CD drives are usually 'PIO'.
Reboot and check that it is DMA.
If it will not accept stay DMA, there is a possibility that the controller is not set as 'Automatic' in the PC Bios - you would have to check that at boot time, before Windows starts to load.

Yeah device 0 stayed at DMA, in device 1 it is set to DMA but current transfer mode is set at 'not applicable'. I'm pretty sure DMA was on before uninstalling.

How many devices are connected to the Secondary apart from the DVD burner?

Just the burner, is that why device 1 is set at not applicable

So the drive is present, the controller is set DMA.
If you put a CD or a DVD (which contains files) in the drive, can Windows see it and list the files.

At the moment it's asking me to insert a disc even though there's one in it.

    I'm running out of ideas.
Try right clicking on the drive letter > properties > recording > turn off enable cd recording on this drive > ok, then turn it back on.
