they look cool, and are reilable but very very very expensive, i would never go with alienware myself unless i have 3 grand laying in the bank.

You can build an exact replica of an alienware setup for half to a third of the price of buying the exact same thing from them.

Alienware also has great support, thats has got to be worth something plus they can get parts that we cannot, their controller cards are the best,( Sil 680 chip)great for optical drive and their PSUs have dedicated rails, also not easy to find.

ALAND dont give false info. Dual rail psu's are easy to find. Take a look at my sig. 80.00 usd at curcuit city. There is nothing different with the alienware than than a custom built. The parts are the same and enough looking you can even get higher quality parts for less than alienware.

Thanks for having my back OZZY214 and wdowsing, I thought I may have given out some bad information there.
Hopefully MstrPppts will check back in and let us know if he/she/it decides to go that route.

i've actually ordered a combo for myself from here, you have a WIDE selection, intel or amd, specific mobo, parts, accessories, etc...add ons, power supplies, they even build systems for you to your specifications and the prices are GENERALLY more competitive because they don't have a fancy name such as "alienware" on it~ :)

    http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv

you could start by looking under their "barebones" or "combos" section, or they have custom builds too, just look under their "custom systems" tab~ :)

i've been purchasing parts for my various builds over the last few years from either newegg or monarchcomputers, their prices are very close (competitive with each other) and the fact that i live in CA, i don't get charged sales tax from monarch, whereas from newegg i do~ saves me a few hundred bucks once your shopping cart gets into the thousands...

a friend of mine bought a system from them, he picked every single part out himself in the "system configurator" and they built it for him, i must say, the cabling inside was done VERY well, everything is clean and he is very pleased and i was also impressed too~

monarchcomputers is a good place if you are more "budget-minded" like most of us are...if you have $$$ and deep pockets, then go alienware or overdrivepc.com (they both have excellent builds, but you will be paying considerably MORE for the "name brand") :)

    good luck

    docTY~

I've heard from close friends that all Alienware does it take a normal computer, slap thier brand name on it, and mark it up 50%. That may explain why they are no expensive. Then again, that's what I heard. The choice is yours. :)

Alienware uses good quality components but are very expensive, as for putting other ppls brands i would doubt that, as hardley anyone does the performace that they do or use the quality companants that they do.
