Well I have a modded ps2 and I know everything about it (modding, burning, etc) and I love it. I noticed that with gamecube it looks a lot harder to mod. Obviously the discs are smaller than the normal ps2 size. I read through tutorials and there all like: Have a hard drive, image file, internet connection, memory card, phantasy star online, blah! With ps2 all I had to do was mod it with a chip and copy games to a DVD and bam! its done. Whats the deal with gamecube? It seems to complicated. Is there any way to mod the gamecube with a chip, burn games using the mini discs, and just like the ps2, bam! your done?

I have a modded PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube. The PS2 is defintely easier to make backups with. With the Gamecube however, you basically can do the same thing almost. You can mod it with a chip, I used the Qoob SX. Then you can use mini DVD-R discs to burn the backups on and play them on the moddem cube. The only part that is difficult, but it is not really, is making the backups. Since the PC cannot read the Gamecube discs, the only way to back them up is to get a broadband adapter for your gamecube, and connect it to your PC through a router. Then you put the original game in the Gamecube and you can download it to your PC, then burn it to a mini DVD-R that can be played in your gamecube flawlessly after that. Now I guess if you can't do the backup part, you could just look to download games that you already own that someone else has already backed up for you. Then you just burn it right to a mini DVD-R and skip the backup process.

No way! I completely understood that! Hooray! So my PC can burn gamecube discs correct? (The Mini DVD-R's) I know it cant read them but it can burn them?

Yes, your PC can burn mini DVD-R discs that the Gamecube will recognize. It is just the PC cannot read the info from the real gamecube discs because how it is burned to them, so that is why you have to stream or download the game from your gamecube to your PC to be able to back it up. Now the only thing you have to make sure is that you use some good quality mini DVD-R discs, the gamecube is kinda anal about the discs that it will read. I have used TDK DVD-R discs and never had a problem or disc read error with them. Others say Ritek media is the best to use as well.

Excellent. I do want to buy a premoded gamecube so I dont have to: go buy one, ship it, wait, get it moded, have it shipped back, and wait. I think you get the picture, lol. Whats the best place to get a premoded gamecube (new of course, not refurbished)? And I was looking on google, there are things called "case mods?" Where you can play full dvd sized discs on the gamecube? If I get that would I still be able to use the mini dvd-r's or could I burn the gamecube games to normal dvd-r's?

Oops, another thing. Whats the price range I should be looking for? As in, is $300 a rip off? $200? $100? And what is the best mod chip for the gamecube today? If I do get a premod mod case to enable use of full dvd's, would tayo yuden DVD-r's be fine? (I cant spell his name).

I'm not too sure on the premodded systems as I modded mine myself.... I already had experience doing the PS2 (29 wires was a biznitch), and the xbox which was a snap. Everything I have ordered though for the systems, I got it all from modchipsource.com. I have referred all my friends to them too, never had a problem with anything. They are out of Chicago, IL..... so the regular ground shipping only took like 2 days to get to me in Texas. They sell all the chips and stuff you would need, and also do premods. As far as the full size DVD-Rs, that is actually what I do. I bought a case mod and all my burning is done on full size TDK DVD-R discs. I figured it would save money using full size instead of the more expensive mini DVD-Rs. I would also say the best modchip to just do backups with is the Qoob SX, but you will get different responses on that from different people. :)

Cool. If I get my gamecube to where it can use DVD-r's (normal size) can it also use the mini dvd'rs too? Also, for a premod that plays the big dvd's and the mini ones, is $265 with shipping too expensive?

Oh another thing. If i get a gamecube thats modded to where it plays big dvd's, is burning gamecube games to a normal sized dvd just the same as burning it to a mini-dvd. Or is it a mega 10 step process?

I'd say the Qoob Pro is the best out currently since it has everything the SX has (besides the backup BIOS) along side USB flashing and 16Mbit of flash memory for applications.

Also, the Iced Cube cases from Team Xecuter are the best case mods, so get one of those if you can.

    So Stevetex
If I get a mod chip installed (r u willing to do this for me?) and then the case change to accomodate full size dvd's, will the original small dvd's still play properly in the gam\mecube system?

I mean, I belive that it would but still, Im asking.

Also, what full size case did/do you have? Are there different ones?
