ok, I clicked on one .txt file and was prompted with an "Open With" window and selected one of my programs called 'Alcohol 120%.' Since then, EVERY .exe file opens up Alcohol, even regedit, system restore, etc. I proceeded to uninstall Alcohol 120% and now I jsut get an 'Open With' window looking for a program to open up any .exe file.

I found a temp solution by going to the directories for my programs and clicking on the .exe files from the folder, but I always still get the 'Open With' box to popup. From a tutorial I found online, I was able to go into the registry via Safe Mode with a Cmd Prompt and checked the HKEY_Classes_ directory and everything looked fine like it's supposed to look, so I relly dont know what to do. Im running 32 bit Vista Premium Edition btw.

Well a .txt file opens natively on windows in either Notepad or Wordpad... Alcohol 120% is a CD/DVD burning program... When you get the 'Open With' box. Under the program selection window. There should be a checkbox with an option to 'Always open this type of file with selected program'... You just need to make sure your opening the file with the proper program...

why would a .txt file prompt you to "open with" in the first place?
