I have a liteon 16x DVD burner and memorex DVD+R 16X and I have only been successful at backing up 2 DVDs. I am using AnyDVD and DVD shrink with nero. I have searched and tried all the suggestions made to people with similar problems. here is a Nero log. The only error I see is a DMA error. but i'm hoping that it is just bad media. thanks for the help. Hi rabbit84 Maybe the media but your got one of the better mnaufacturers that Memorex uses - Ricoh - decent stuff. But with Memorex you never know who you'll get - so stick w/ Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden (in store look for made in japan Sony or Fuji) and made in Japan Maxell. Burners firmware is update and the media is being fully recognized by the burner. For the DMA-CRC error - when you installed the burner did you change the jumper pin on the back of the burner to master? They usually come set to slave and since the drive is on the master connector the jumper pin should be set to master. Unless this is a Dell which use the cable select. File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS Roxio and Nero don't always play well so if all fails uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.
Jumper is set to master and I even went as far as only having the burner on the cable. I'll run the zap tool and see what that does although I've never had roxio installed on this machine. thanks.
'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS is a Roxio/Sonic driver that sometimes interferes with Nero. some members say it doesn't bother Nero and others can't have both Nero and this driver on the same computer. run the zapper and make sure it takes out this driver. just trying to eliminate potential problems so if there still persists then you can move on to the next remedy. good luck. Last address to be written: 2286111 (508:01.36, 4465MB) that's a little too close to the outer edge of the disk..... try setting it to no more than 4400MB.
I noticed that the Nero version and Interface version are different. Don't forget to note your Nero serial number, remove Nero, run the clean tool available from their site, and reinstall Nero using your s/n.
@rabbit84 Try burning w/ ImgBurn. A good free burning program. Use the build mode to burn the video_ts folder. Try that and the clean install of Nero.
ok, I removed and cleaned nero off completly and installed imgburn and used dvd shrink with "iso with dvd decrypter" and I changed the ratio so it was smaller than 4400 and I still got an error while burning. here's a screen of the error. here's the imgburn log. Two things come to mind. One - the CRC error might mean you need to process the files on the HD thru VOBBlanker before using Shrink and ImgBurn. ie. Rip the disk to HD, open VOBBlanker on those files, designate to a new folder, and Process all. Then open Shrink and ImgBurn on that new folder. Two - slow down the burn. Try half the rated speed of the disk. ie. 8x on 16x media. Post results. Hopefully, all will be well.
You're still getting a communication error between the drive and pc. Doesn't take long for the burn to fail - less than a minute. I don't think the drive is junk - may be a bad ide cable - this can also cause communication errors. Have another ide cable you can try? One to thing to try - uninstall the secondary ide channel (the one the drive is on) in device manager - reboot - let windows do it thing and reninstall. (right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager) What's changed since you where last able to burn?
it's a new drive. I've been able to copy 2 dvds in at least 15 attempts. I replaced a cd burner with this burner so the cable was working fine. i'll try a different one if i can find it. between the 2 that burned fine and the failed ones nothing changed. I'll get a new cable and try that. thanks for all the help.
sweet, I switched my hard drive cable and my burner cable and it worked first try. thanks again for all the help.
