I have an all in wonder pro 9600 and am recording TV shows. I would like to burn them to DVD. What I did was take my mpeg-2 file created by ATI and convert it to an ISO file using deep burner. Then I used DVD decryptor to burn that to a DVD. It works in the pc but not the stand alone player. I use the same player and disk type to play movies I have "backed up" using DVD shrink and DVD decryptor all of the time. Am I lame and doing something obviously wrong? Any help is appreciated.
What you have to do is run your MPEG2 file through a DVD Authoring program first. This process will allow you to create chapters and the other files that are needed to make a DVD, I use TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 for this job all of the time it works great. You need an Authoring program to complete your task there are free versions and others you have to buy, but most offer free trials.
if your dvd works on the computer it's possible that it's just not the right type of disk for your stand alone and that's what is blocking it from being recognized in the player. there are other reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players: 1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x). 2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual. 3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this: http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php 4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk! 5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are [bold]Made in Japan[/bold].) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch! 6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better! follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.
Ok, I tried the free gui dvd author but when I create dvd it says it will have a problem with multiplexing and when I continue anyway it fails with the vob audio file. I looked at the guide and think I have all the settings correct. Could it have to do with the fact it is saving as an ATI type file eventhough it is a MPG-2. aa
