are going to go insane lol I am building a computer from the ground up now I know just alittle not much so I need your help what I want this badass of a machine to do is basically move play movies have wireless internet handle programs like photoshop at the same time and for it to have alot of storage probley a terabyte will do and the cpu to rip the head off of anything thats thrown at it now I will tell you what I have the case is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147001 and thats it lol what I need to be explained to me is this what makes the computer fast memory or the cpu whats a good motherboard I dont need a expensive video card because I wont play those video games like wow or whatever I want a video card that will let me hook it up to a tv with the yellow, white, and red cord ( you know what I am talking about right?) also I dont know if I can say this on here but dont delete this post if it is I want to know how to overclock my cpu is there a dvd writer that will let me right a dvd in like 1 min so go for it guys thanx alot
OK, the case isn't ideal, but it's workable since you're not using a high end graphics card. You will have to ditch the appalling power supply it comes with though in favour of something decent like a Corsair HX 520W. If you're going to do video editing, I'd recommend a Quad core CPU. Otherwise, a fast dual core like an E6750 will do. As for how to overclock it, see our own official overclocking thread. Here's an example parts list http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128048 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073 x2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125075 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118003
well i looked and the motherboard what is the advantages of having 2 ethernet ports and I saw you can have wireless internet built in it and what about the memory
Having two ethernet ports means you can connect to two different networks at once, or bridge your network connection to another device. As for the RAM, I recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145034
As it stands right now, I don't think DDR3 is worth bothering with for the average person. It's too expensive for the minor performance benefits. At least with that board you have the option to upgrade later.
hmm yeah I was looking and it only has 3 pci slots and I was looking at the reviews and they say it keeps rebooting itself oh and why is it that core duo cards are more expensive then quad core???
and also what about this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127020 it has wifi and everything so whats good and whats bad about it???
The newegg reviewers are idiots. I've recommended that board to many people on the aD forums, nobody has had any issues with it. I own one myself and it performs faultlessly. If you severely mess up an overclock it can potentially reboot itself continuously, but that's never happened to me, and it wouldn't happen by itself. As for that motherboard, it's a lot of extra expense for no useful gain. It allows SLI, but that's about it really. The included BIOS for it is also terrible, as it is with pretty much all Abit boards. That's not a problem Gigabytes suffer from.
I have that motherboard, and it restarts on me... Only when I try to take the CPU to 4.2 ghz! Seriously it's a very solid board, I've even done 4Ghz on it! No problems. I would say Core 2 Duos tend to cost LESS than Quads, I don't know where you are getting your prices from.
I can only assume you mean the E6850 and Q6600. The reason for that is that the 6850 is the fastest dual core available, and because it sits at the top of its market it attracts a far higher price. It may be only 25% faster than the Q6600 in dual core applications, but because it's one of the highest overclocking processors there is, it has a high price tag.
That depends on whether you can make use of four cores or not. If you will only ever use two, then of course the E6850 will be a 'faster' CPU, but if you do things such as video editing then a Quad core will prove beneficial.
ok say I want a computer that will start any programs I have super fast and can handle like photoshop firefox and ITunes in realtime and watch a movie what would be the best for me
ok what if the quad is less isnt the quad better I mean if the duo was 3gh and the quad is 2.6 isnt the quad better
Well most programs don't use all four cores. The best most programs are coded for is 2 cores, so it will just be like a dual core running at 2.6 ghz.
alright whats the difference here I cant find it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115002 and this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 the second is like 100 cheaper why is that
The second one is cheaper and better in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY! The one before is more expensive because it's an old processor and the price was never dropped. They just started making the new CPUs for a lower price. DO NOT get the E6700!
