Hello from Greece to all! I have this issue, I have a modded Xbox with Alladin chip (bought that way) and recently triend to update my XBMC. Unfortunately it seems things get wrong and now my Xbox boots (the EvoX logo) and after that I get a blank screen... it seems to wait for dashboard I have made both the auto installer disk and the Evox disk but does not read any of them. In fact does not read games (backup) or DVD-movies disks either on boot) Does not respond to FTP either. :-( I tried to hotswap (followed the instructions) but it seems the Xbox-HDM can't see it also. should I mount it as a primary master only? Is any command I should give to mount the disk? Basically, ...... Is there any way to access the files inside the XBOXs Hard drive?? I am going nuts here!!! Please anybody help... Thank you in advance for everything ...
if i am correct, you should be able to boot from any UNLOCKED harddrive if you boot from your modchip. so take another harddrive, prepare it once (use the hdm tutorial). you do not need to lock it, since you can boot an unlocked harddrive. put it in the xbox, boot from it (via you modchip). make a backup of your eeprom file (if you have it already, you can start reading from here). put the messed up harddrive into your computer, boot the hdm disk. UNLOCK the messed up hard drive first with your saved eeprom file. then try to rebuild the messed up harddrive once more with the hdm tutorial. you can always give it a low level format after you have unlocked your hard drive (use the manufacturers utility for this or any other zero write/fill application under dos). for some (like me) i had to give it a zero write first in order to let hdm recognize my disk (after unlocking it!) after a full wipe of the data of your harddrive, you should be able to use the hdm tutorial to rebuild and lock your hard drive with your saved eeprom.bin file. but remember, your modchip should be able to boot from any unlocked harddrive. so you should be able to rebuild any small harddrive that you have laying around, and don't bother with the locking of it. as long as you boot off the modchip, it does not have to be locked good luck,
Thank dennisv9 you very much for answering Yesterday night I made it. So for ANY ONE THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM FOLLOW THESE STEPS This tutorial assumes that your Xbox boots the Evox but your dashboard is corrupted with no ftp access Make sure you have an Xbox-HDM WITH XBMC FILES IN /linux/E and you have burned it correctly!!!!! Please read all steps before hand and then follow one by one. 1. Open Xbox 2. Open PC 3. Take out hard drive from Xbox 4. Prepare your pc so as to recoginze the Xbox drive as primary master and leave this cable free so as to connect later the XBOXHard Drive 5. Put the HDM CD/DVD in cdtray and reboot 6. Press PauseBreak on start up (bios) 7. Open Xbox with the Tv out cable connected (no need to connect it on tv) 8. Wait a few seconds as it boots 9. Without unplugging the hard drive from the power source (the small plug with the 4 cables .. that one right!) remove the IDE cable and connect the Primary Master IDE Cable from your PC 10. Press SPACE 11. Welcome to HDM no need to do anything of the tutorials just type xbrowser 12. welcome to MC no copy the xbmc files inside E:/Apps 13. If in any case you had evox pointing to another dashboard makesure you also change the evox.ini dashboard entry to E:/Apps/default.xbe [Take special care of Caps!!!!u are in linux!] 14. when copying is completed poweroff 15. Connect back Xbox HDD drive to xbox and reboot ... 16. Welcome to XBMC [ the hard way ] I hope you do not have to spend the same hours I did to find all these steps Regards to all!
