I'm scared to death I'm makeing some bad copys from reading all the problems some people have with backing up, I've copyed about 50 dvds and started them all in a stand alone and skipped through the chapters and everything seems to play fine. I even watched the whole movie of Flight Plan and it was perfect. All I use is Shrink, anydvd, and dvd decrypter. Am I going to watch something one day and find its messed up in the middle some where and I didn't relize it by just jumping through the movie checking quality. What is you experience?
Dude, you are so screwed if I were you I would just trash all your movies now while you have the chance. Especially if they are all playing fine. Don't hesitate. ---zen--->
@outdoor Some people don't have anything useful to say so they just talk crap, that's all! What kind of blank DVDs did you use and at what speed do you usually burn? If you use quality media, don't burn too fast, don't multitask during the process and store your DVDs in proper conditions, you should be fine.
If you use good media and good burning techniques (burn at slower speeds, no other apps running) then the odds are you are fine. If you're worried about your backups then you could use a tool like DVDINFOPro to check your disks for errors after you burn them. Download a free version here: http://www.dvdinfopro.com Edit: Hey, after I hit "reply" I just noticed cyprusrom's message. So basically I agree with him
thanks guys, I use maxell and verbs, have been burning at 4x and 2.4x on dl discs. I was just worrying I might have some bad places in the movies that I didn't run across while quick checking. Also I have been on the internet downloading covers and such while burning and ripping. Is this a bad thing? how will it effect quality?
Stick to the quality media! Check the proper forum here. MIJ's are the way to go! Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim--that is all. If you stick to these media, you won't have any quality loss over time. What I do, after I back up a movie, is I let it run through the DVD player from start to finish. I usually keep it on the second fastest forward (usually 2x, at 2 or 3 seconds) to go through the movie. If I come back in five minutes and it's back at the title menu, I know there weren't any hiccups. If I come back and it's frozen on a particular scene/chapter, I redo it.
"Also I have been on the internet downloading covers and such while burning and ripping. Is this a bad thing? how will it effect quality?" I wouldn't suggest doing ANYTHING else while ripping or burning.
I suppose the internet browsing thing during burning, depends in part of how much Ram and stuff your computer has, how performant is, but I would not recommend if you want flawless backups. Also, don't put any labels on your discs!
My apologies, sounds like you were doing things right. Just being a bit sarcastic*. Did not mean to offen anyone. :2)
cool, sarcasm's fine, thought that's all it was but we don't wanna scare our posters away is all in case they don't see it that way
Yes, sarcasm is okay, but online messages can be so easy misinterpreted! To be on the safe side, it would be good to throw in some useful info, to show that you're actually joking, and not being a complete a$$!
I was sarcastic once- No I wasn't. (kidding) Tys and Verbs Tys and Verbs nothing is better than Tys and Verbs)
