    Hi

i just bought the new AMD Opteron 146 CPU as an upgrade for my current Athlon XP. I also bought a new board, hiper modular PSU and just installed my water cooling kit so can overclock it to get the max speed out of the chip. What i require now is some RAM for it, but unsure of which to buy to get the best possible performance from my new machine. At the moment i have a 1Gb Corsair dual channel kit (2x512). Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers

since your planning on overclocking get some DDR 500 so that it will definately handle the increased clock speeds

The 146 is capable of hitting 3Ghz on air so you should be able to push it a bit further on water (depending on the kit) if you get DDR500 (250FSB) you'll have to run a divider or you could get some DDR600 which will cover a 300FSB.
As for brands G.skill, Geil, OCZ, Corsair, Mushkin etc,etc
2 x 512 is better for overclocking with & are available in speeds up to DDR625 , 2 x 1G go up to DDR500 still good for o.c'ing with but you have to run a divider for anything over 250 FSB
