I was thinking about upgrading my intel 2.8 processor to a 3.2 or into an amd processor. I use my pc for different types of media such as gaming, music and video files. Which one should I get?
First off you can't "upgrade to an AMD" by just getting the chip you have to get a different mobo and sometimes RAM. And then you need to make sure the 3.2 is compatible with your mobo. So post your motherboard make and model and we can tell you what chips are compatible.
yep. and just for the book. id choose AMD over Intel any day, im sure with just about 10000 other Afterdawners here as well.
# Processor: * Socket 478 for Intel Pentium 4 / Celeron up to 3.06GHz+ * Supports Intel Hyper-Threading Technology * New power design supports up to 3.06GHz CPU speeds and above no 3.2 for you. you're going to need a new mobo for a faster intel or a new amd.
Well I use computer for various things. When I get into my gaming mode, I play mostly RTS games. Im not a real big gamer but I do get play games. Currently I have a Ati X850 2g of memory, and three hdd with a total of 400 gigs. I just need an opinion on which one may be better for me since I multi-task on my computer. Some people suggest intel and some say AMD since I game a little bit. I went to ASUS.com but I am not sure on which one to get. Thanks!
really, it's up to you. i'm an AMD guy, personally; i just like the way they run. once you decide, we can find you a mobo.
I tell you what just guide me to good ones regardless if it's intel or amd. I can then based my decsion on the ones you show me. I don't want anything too expensive and I need something that is agp compatiable when it comes to graphics card. I have an Ati X850 and I just don't want to buy another one. I know alot of mobos are coming out pci compatiable.
i think asus has some boards that have both agp & pci/e slots on them as i was trying to get 1 for a customer this past summer.
I was looking at this mobo. I dont remember if ASUS did a AGP/PCI-E MB for AMD. I did find this one by ASRock http://www.supergooddeal.com/ASRock_939DUAL_VSTA_Socket_939_ULi_M1695_AGP_PCIE_p/mb-939vsta.htm Here is ECS's http://www.ibuildcomputer.com/cgi-bin/szc.cgi/st_prod.html?p_partnum=ZMA100019464&p_vlt=L I did find this ASUS one, but its only for 775 Intel processors http://www.atxcases.com/item.asp?referid=162164&id=3868
