I can't find a simple declarative answer to this, so I'm posting. I've got a Sony GX7 DVD recorder. It uses 4x disks. The local Best Buy seems to have grown bored with stocking 4x dvd -r disks. But they have the "up to 8x" disks. Here's the question: Are "up to 8x" disks usable in a 4x recorder? I've been getting a lot of c1300 "This disk is dirty" messages.
U can use them but burn will be 4x. Also make sure media ur using is quality. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ritek, Ridata, Sony. The best deals are found online. Try http://www.rima.com http://www.shop4tech.com http://www.meritline.com http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.newegg.com U should be able to find all the DVD-R 4x u want at much better prices than Best Buy! Also, be sure to update firmware for ur drive. Goto manufacturer's site. Happy burning!
