I had a Sony 8 non digital camcorder. It no longer works.

I am trying to copy video from my home video tapes to hard drive for editing / burning.

I borrowed a friends RCA camcorder that records/plays these type of video tapes. PROBLEM, the audio & video are not in sync.

Does anyone know if you play one of these tapes (non-digital) on a camcorder OTHER than the brand that recorded it, is it likely that audio/video sync could be off?

    Thanks!

Don't think so. If you stick the analog video/audio output of the RCA to a TV, is the audio/video still out of sync?

Does the camera have a video composite out or s-video out that you can plug into your computer? Hopefully it also has audio out for your soundcard.
My current Digital Video camera has firewire out and I can connect it to a VHS player and use it to play through from the VHS player to the computer for recording to the hard drive.
    A bit of work.
