    I've tried searching for help with this but couldn't find anything. Basically my analog signal is working fine but my starview box isn't. When I connect the cable to the box I can get to the code entry screen etc but even after entering the latest codes it just goes back to 'data updating'. Both Rte 2 and TV3 are working but this has always been the case when the codes went. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks.

    Flash your box with the correct version of the latest firmware. no need to enter codes afterwards.

    Genuine or clone ??? Count the vents on top

    First Generation = 13 x 7 vents (CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip)
    Genuine = 25 x 7 vents (CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip)
    Clone = 18 x 7 vents (CryptStar-v14-Core257.bin)

    Firmware files are located at http://www.eko.4shared.com (enter the Starview folder then Firmware folder)

    The CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip file needs de-archiving as you will need the .bin file contained within it.

    *NOTE* you will need a NULL MODEM CABLE and not an RS232 CABLE - See my signature should you need one

    UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL

    1. Plug Starview in at the mains.
    2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
    3. Open up GTRom loader
    4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the Auto update BIN file that you have saved earlier
    5. Now click download button and you will see the file being downloaded.
    6. Once complete a message will appear saying something like "download successful".
    7. Ideally you should try and get a bin file channel list for your area and load this as well it will save a lot of time.
    8. Alternatively, plug box in and press Menu on remote, installation, choose your cable provider, then move down to automatic scan and press ok.
    9. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
    10. Now press menu, parental control, press ok. Then press i then 2004. Move down to Key Emu and change option to on. Press ok , then exit back to TV Screen.
    11. If entering the code of 2004 does not work, substitute with the code of 1570.

    You extract the .bin file from the archive and save it for use in the GTRom software

    Where on the website do I go to get the files? All I get is the homepage and searching doesn't seem to come up with what I'm looking for

    Now i'm getting 'flash update fail'. After searching forum, it seems this happens when there's a problem with the cable. I'm using 25-Pin Female to 9-Pin Female cable and adaptor. I was told this should work but do you think this is causing the problem?
