I bought a new dell inspiron 6000 with the TSST CORP cdrw/dvd TSL462C installed with it. I tried burning audio cds on it and my home player won't play them. They'll play only on my laptop. So I talked to a couple of people at dell with no help other than it's a software problem. A software problem that I have to pay someone to tell me how to fix it. Well I've now got the cd player playing the cd after waiting about 10 seconds or more. I have re-installed the software that came with my laptop (RecordNOW by Sonic Solutions). I also install a free demo by Nero and another software by Roxio. They all burn with the same lag time. I also test my laptop from dell inspiron 6000 with my friend older version inspiron 1100. We both used the same burning software Roxio (Easy CD Creator Basic 5) with the same generic blank cd. My burned cd still has the 10+ second lag time and his played right away. What do you think the problem or solution is? I need help understanding. Thank you in advance.
This may not be the cause of your problem but Roxio Easy CD Creator & NERO Burning Rom Do not play well together ! you should decide on one or the other and delete the one you did'nt choose ! also you might try using a better grade of CDR & or burning @ a slower speed and try to keep in mind that Commercially produced CD's like The VinYl Records of yesteryear (OLD SCHOOL!) are stampmed out and not burned individually or en masse even! They are also more reflective -meaning that's why they play on any player . THe upshot is that you or I or anyone else Are not making CD's when we burn a CDR anymore than I am Making a DVD when I burn a DVD-R or DVD+R disc of a movie. Their less refflective nature as well as several other factors are reasons why your CDR's may not play in older players or in one or not another . It's the same with DVDR'S some DVD-R or DVD+R backups /movies will play on some players well and others not at all . Movie studios & Record companies Make CD's & DVD's instead of CDR's & DVDR's for two reasons - compatability They work & two it's cheaper to stamp out movies & albums then to burn them! Anyhow Hope that you get your problem solved & consider the advice given should it prove helpful to you ! PEACE Out!
Thank you for your explainations. I will take your advise about deleting one of the programs. I have got Nero working the best. Thank you for answering my questions. Very much appreciated!
wanabee1- No Sweat ! and you are very welcome Both are good programs and are about equal in my book though someone else may disagree ! If you are comfortable with Nero Then full speed ahead - As I said I have used both and I ended up with EASY CD & DVD CREATOR 6 PLATINUM i have nothing against nero I am just more used to Roxio as you are with nero and I am more comfortable with it having used easy CD creator since it's 3.0 edition . But that's not important . Now that you are settled in with nero try a few CD burns and see if it helped. Then try one or two CDr's of higher grade media ! I hope your CD burner works better and you continue to enjoy this hobby of ours ! Good luck - Peace & Happy Burning My Friend - Glad I could help!
