Just recently, I have been experiencing popping and crackling sounds while playing games. This doesn't happen with DVD'd or MP3's, only games. I've reinstalled drivers and reconfigured but still annoying the crap out of me. Any suggestions? I have built in Realtec AC97 audio.

Get a new sound card. When playing 3D games there is a higher demand from the system. This could be causing delay in communications to the sound card. Realtech is usually an onboard sound card. This may clear up with a better one. Whichever that is now days I don't know. I was a creative labs fan. Have not added sound card to my current system. It works just fine.

Replacing the card may eliminate the delay to the sound card. Integrated ones are accessed different from PCI cards. That's my suggestion.

Thank you. That makes sense. I'll give it a try.
