    Pertinent info:

-I've run System Requirements Lab for Bioshock and I pass for minimum settings
    - I've downloaded the nVidia driver update for increased BS stability
    - I have an extra fan in PC for cooling
    - Have reinstalled game a number of times
    - Am running game on absolute minimum graphics and audio settings

    Specs: GEforce 7600 GT
    Intel Celeron D 3.20 Ghz

    Symptoms:

I get through the intro and get to the Rapture part right in the beginning (or somewhere near there) then either

    a) I get a bishock.exe error or
    b) My screen shuts off while the music continues. I can't shutdown the game and have to manually restart computer.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Your card is most likely overheating. Try monitoring it with a program like RivaTuner or something, the gfx card temp should not get over 65C.

    What are your idle temps?

I'll have to check back later cuz I'm not at home. But let's assume that it is overheating...what would be my gameplan then? Also, this extra fan I have doesn't help enough?

Probably it does help, but not so much. Also, we need your temp readings, so post those please.

ok, those are high, but not super high, so you should be ok... It could be a faulty card, do other games play like this? Try updating the drivers, that could help.

All my drivers are up to date. I've never had any game problems before but then again, I've never run a game this graphically intensive before.

I have seen that happen with a no DVD cracked version of the executable. I used it for a while so I wouldn't have to keep the DVD in the drive, but started having crashes similar to what you describe. I switched back to my original exe which required the DVD and haven't had a crash since.

If its a cracked exe, then

Just buy the game or look for a better exe
