Welcome to AD. Firstly, please remove your serial #, it is at the top of your log and begins with 1A20. Now, the first mistake you made, which would seem like a good idea, is upgrade Nero...we need to get you back to using 6.6.0.18, 6.6.1.4 has yet to have the wrinkles ironed out as of yet. Clean first with this: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/General_Clean_Tool.html Then Download version 6.6.0.18 here: http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe Not familiar with these discs, but suspect that they aren't the best...try some quality discs from Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, Maxell (made in Japan). Slow it down to 4X and lets see if you can get a successful burn, then you can increase the speed little by little to see what you can get away with. This error means that your burner doesn't like your discs, and since your firmware is most current as listed on RPC1, I would think it is the media. This is another clue that the media is the culprit, there should be some other numbers here other than zeroes, get some different discs.
alright, i did everything as suggested. just for the record, the media i was using were jvc disks. after removing and reinstalling nero, i actually was sucessful in burning one copy last night on the jvc media. my roomate has never had an issue with them, regardless i still went out and bought some sony media earlier today. however even with the new media and burning at 4X speed, i got a new burn error at 59%. thanks again for the time and help! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - You can also try and visit the burner's manufacturer's web site and see if they provide a list of tested media for the drive.

everybody thanks for the help! loco- yes the big lots/jvc media. i'll say this, with his generic mad dog burner, the generic jvc media, and a laptop that doesn't have near 100% of the resources available, he has yet to have a burn issue. as i said in my last post, i have personally changed to sony as per the suggestion but the first sony burn errored at 59%. unfortunately my dvd player is an older model and it only plays dvd-r. also i bought the burner with the expectations of being able to burn both types of media and being restricted to just one type is not cool with me. i'm concluding that it is not a media issue but a faulty burner issue and am in the process of contacting the manufacturer. if anyone has any reason to believe otherwise let me know. thanks again all!
Mad dog has their drives made by other manufacturers, yours in this case is a pioneer. I don't think the Pioneer drives are capable of booktyping, which might solve your compatability issues with your stand alone DVD player. His drive is probably an NEC, which IMHO is a superior drive to the pioneer.
