your media is the problem....... your drive is not a 16x DVD burner:
    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters...&hddvdrom=&orderby=Name&hits=50&Search=Search
it's an 8x burner...... and your firmware is:
    NEC DVD+-RW ND-6650A> Version: 102C
where as of October of last year was upgraded to 2.23:
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=1513
maybe a firmware upgrade is due to make your drive read and burn to newer media! Because your media is Memorex (1 Memorex 16xDVD-R (MBI 01RG40..) comments, 0 good, 0 mixed, 1 poor.) as stated in VideoHelp.com
MBI is Moser Baer (made in India) and here is it's listing:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
which is almost into 3rd class crappy media! near the bottom of the 2nd class list! and your drive already shows trouble using MBI 01RG40 disks. Most everyone knows that Memorex is one of the lower class, poorer media out there. I suggest you get Taiyo Yuden or Verbatum the best that is out there. Do not use Verbatum that is Made in India!

Memorex outsources it's media..... another words, many manufacturers make it's brand. Some Memorex is actually good if you can find the ones that are RICOHJPN! But, those are too few and far between. You can buy a spindle of Memorex and get 2 or 3 different manufactures on spindle of disks. I suggest you get better media!

    so in closing:

    1. do a firmware update
    2. use better media.

    this will solve your problem.

also........ burning at 2x ....... burn at half the rated speed of the disk. Burning too slow is just as bad as burning too fast! Your chances of success will increase if you burn at the correct speed. (8x disks.... burn at 4x, etc.)

    i see that:

    Finalize CD : FALSE
    Multisession : TRUE
    Multisession type: : Start multisession

he prolly wanted that just keep adding songs in multi, have you done multi before ok?

Hey thanks for all the replies. I always stuck with Memorex just cause it was cheap and I never had problems but I will look at better stuff. It was only a 3mb file because I ran out of CDRs and had to get the file to someone ASAP. I am going to see if the firmware helps it out.

    Thanks

I downloaded the firmware and it is a zip file with some stuff in it. I read the readme:

    1. Unzip attached zip file and copy extracted files to a DOS bootable disk.
    2. Connect ND-6650A to secondary master. Do not connect anything on secondary slave.
    3. Boot the system with the DOS bootable disk.
    4. From DOS prompt, type "6650BOOT.bat" and press enter.
    5. After the flash is completed, shut down the system.
    6. Then boot the system with the DOS bootable disk again and confirm the drive is now seen at secondary slave. If not, please check the BIOS setup.
    7. From DOS prompt, type "6650MAIN.bat".
    8. After the flash is completed, shut down and reboot the system.

I have absolutely no idea what any of this means. I am used to .exe files and stuff. I have a laptop if that makes anything different. Does anyone know how to do this in a easier said way?

    Thanks

I'm sorry if having problems trying to update...... but I can't help you if you get that error message. Just try to use better media. and see if that helps you.
