I hope this question hasn't already been addressed a hundred times, but I can't seem to find a solution to this problem even in these forums. I'm really a newbie when it comes to this anyway ^^; I am trying to burn video_ts (and audio_ts) files onto a dvd-r so that I can play them in a standalone player. I've tried tons of programs like nero, imgburn, tmpegenc, and others, but I can never get a disc that will play in my player. I know it will play dvd-r since I've played them before, but they were made by someone else. The farthest I've gotten so far is with nero and with the dvd burner that comes with windows XP, and ending up with a dvd that will play fine on my computer, but never in the standalone. I'm not sure if this is specific enough information, but if someone can please help me with this I'll give any other info you need, just let me know ^__^ Thank you!
It might be that your standalone doesn't support the media. In the owners manual it should say if your standalone will play dvd-r or dvd+r.
Ok, I'll look for the manual as soon as I can! But I'm pretty sure it plays dvd-r because I've played them on it before, so I thought it must be something I'm doing wrong in the burning process. I'll check though, thanks!
Are you trying to "Author" a DVD or are you simply copying files? Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I just want to get things clear.
I'm trying to author a dvd I think. I basically just want to find the right way to burn/programs to burn the dvd, because nothing I've tried so far is working. I already have the video_as and audio_ts files, so I want to burn them to a dvd-r so I can play them on a standalone player. I'm not sure how else to explain, does that help?
You said at one point you burned your dvd with Nero, so you should have a Nero Log file on your PC. Look for this file in: 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Nerohistory.Log' or if it's not there do a search for 'Nerohistory.Log' If you look at the log file with Notepad it should begin with your name and have a serial number beginning with something like:1A20- and a series of numbers. This log file may be very long and you should only look for the latest entry. Delete the serial numbers (then copy and paste the latest session from the log file into a new message that you will post in the Nero Forum. If you can't find the Nero Log,where did you get these files ?They should have names like: VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO VIDEO_TS.VOB VTS_01_0.BUP VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_0.VOB VTS-01_1.VOB etc.
Ok, I found the log file. It says "Burn process completed successfully at 4x" at the end, so I don't understand what doesn't work. So should I paste the entire log for that burn in the Nero forum? I can try that~ And yes, the folder has all of those files because it came straight from a dvd. But the dvds I try to burn work fine in the computer, just not on anything else, which is why I'm confused. I'll try the Nero forum too, though!
Yes, post the entire log entry for that successfull burn with a short description of the problem (can view burned DVD on PC, not on standalone player) something like that. You know your standalone player will play DVD's burned on another PC, so it has to be related to your burner or your media. Good luck.
