I have a laptop, Vista home basic and it had trojans galloping through it, partly my fault as I thought computer was protected and I surfed the web and obviously went where I shouldn't have, but I'm old enough(to know better). Anyway, think I fixed it with spybot, which I got after visiting this site this morning. Have eliminated Norton wotsit, only because I don't have a credit card and so can't buy stuff on line. Free stuff is better under the circumstances. I would like to know if I can run AVG whatever else its called with spybot. Still can't understand how these horses managed to jump the fence into my computer, but they did. Hope someone can help. Thank you.
1. first don't use internet explorer, instead use firefox 2.0 2. Make sure you have a good firewall that blocks incomming and outgoing traffic. Theres some good free ones. Zonealarm, commodo 3. AVG antivirus that you have is good enough and it's free. Theres no problem running spybot with an antivirus. 4. Finally get "returnil" it's free, it's a program that seperates your hard drive from the internet. If you go to a website that gives you a virus, it will only exist in system memmory. It's the best antispyware program available. If you are currently using internet explorer as your browser, that's how the trojans got into your computer. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Returnil_Virtual_System_Personal_Edition_d5702.html
