    When I put this movie into the E: Drive and bring up the screen on AnyDVD, it tells me there is noting in E: drive. The light is blinking, it's there. Even waiting for a long time changes nothing. Any ideas?

    Especially when a system has multiple drives, make sure the window tab of AnyDVD coincides with the drive the DVD is in. If the red fox is on the taskbar, the app should be working. What happens when you start the backup software?

    The dvd is not cracked and was a new copy. It will play in our Panasonic dvd player. I know Anydvd and Clonedvd are working and reading the right drive, because I can put in a different movie and it decodes and copies correctly.

    What does a read scan of the problem DVD indicate. Some discs have flaws not visible, they'll play but can't be recorded due to the flaws. If you don't have scanning software, use the free DVDInfoPro to do the scan. http://www.DVDInfoPro.com/ Click the Icon on the upper toolbar, make sure the disc is ready in the selected drive and click start.

    Any time you have a DVD causing problems and others aren't, then scan the problem DVD to see if it's got bad sectors.

    ....and hope it doesn't come back with a result like this (130 CRC errors in this example ie severe corruption; this was an Imation disc, looks like Ritek G03); and this was a data disk of some work files, wasn't even a movie luckily, but corruption is still corruption - [IMG]

    I've seen movies in worse shape that still played good on a player, but no way would they record.

    @kathy970
    Do you get any of those red blocks that indicate bad sectors on your scan?

    When I downloaded dvdinfo, it asked for my Serial Number. Is that for the computer? I put in the Dell S/N and it kept rejecting it. What is tht about?

    You have a free version and a retail version. If you don't have a serial number you purchased, you just continue on without entering a serial. The difference is that the free has some ad banners on it, otherwise they're the same.
