any freeware can edit songs in mp3 or wav format?

    Any freeware that can edit songs in mp3 or wav format? I just want selection part of the songs and burn to cd. thanks

    For MP3's, mp3DirectCut is a good tool/app..It will not re-compress/re-encode your file(s)..

    You need to make sure you get the LAME .dll for editing/exporting .mp3 in Audacity, but that's pretty straight forward - I think the software prompts you.
