Hi I'm having this problem when I need to edit my videos. I brought a sony hand video camera and it goes direct to mini dvd-r. "The camera dont connect to computer". So I have Pinnacle that's a good software for editing videos but it don't open .vob files or don't open my DVD's.

So What I need it's a conveter to Dvd to Avi not the other way around cause when i search on the web for it all that i got is avi to dvd.

Anyone can help with a good software that will do it?

I have tried Xilisoft DVD Riper, but the quality is not the same.
i got some stripes in red, blue and yellow after i convert.

And what's the best type os file, Avi? mpeg 1? m? mpeg4?

    Thank you!

AFAIK you can just load the .vob in TMPGEnc Plus, then use the File Menu
"Output to File" and save as .avi. But before you use TMPGEnc the first time you should set the Environment Options and VFAPI settings so you don't get strange errors. This guide shows how to adjust it before first use:

For your purpose, when the app comes up just hit Cancel to get the wizard out of the way. Then you can use the File Menu to do the conversion.
