Ok, let me explain from the start what I did then i'll say the problem so guys understand what I mean I had a movie, but with no subtitles. So, I found subtitles, used Virtual Dub to add them then saved it as a AVI file, which ended up the size of around 600/700mb (something around that anyway). (The compression used was a xvid codec) So, I've got the film now on the computer and working fine with the new subtitles. So now I go to burn it (onto a 4.7gb dvd disk - i use this kind all the time so the disks are fine, plus I've tried different ones) and when I do it says that the movie file is too big to be burned... huh? I don't understand, the movie file is just under 1gb so how is it too big for a 4.7gb disk? ...So then I looked at the size of the movie file on nero and it says that the movie file is something like 4.8 or 4.9gb in size... How did it get so big when the file on the computer is way under 1gb? any clue? thanks
You are trying to use probably nero Vision, to convert the AVI back to DVD format. If you use the highest quality setting, it will get larger than 4.7GB (remember, you compressed it from DVD to AVI, now to put it back into DVD you have to decompress, plus you have subtitles). However, the quality will not be the same like your original DVD was. You can lower the quality settings in Nero Vision, adjust the bitrate manually, or set the target size to DVD-5 and the quality settings to automatic, and Nero will automatically adjust the bitrate and make the movie fit onto a SL DVD. Or, you can use the highest quality settings for conversion, and then, use Recode to shrink the file.
