I am still looking for a HDMI Upconversion DVD Recorder. I have tried 2 DVD Recorders and no luck. I tried Panasonic DMR ES25S and LG DR1F9H. Both of them have trouble playing Home Brew DVD's off the computer. I have a JVC and a Phillips DVD player that play them perfectly and I want to find a Upconversion DVD Recorder. Any advice or any news on upcoming DVD Recorders I would appreciate it.
Ive been looking too. Am gonna get the Panny DMR EZ25. However, I have also been reading not to get too exicted about upscaling since any LCD or PLASMA screen has to upsacle any signal that is not High def to the screens native resolution. This is done internally all the time so you ain't gonna see any appreciable differnce in PQ. Any only theoretically if the dvd upscaller was better than the TV's own.
I have decided to go with Samsung R145 DVD Recorder. I have a friend who bought it and it plays everything he tried. The upconversion looks great. You might want to check it out!
i was going to get the Panasonic DMR ES25S at circut city this week for 169.99 guess i better make sure it plays my backed up dvds before i buy it or go with the Samsung DVD-R145
I did buy the DMREZ 25 and it plays my back-ups just fine. (struggles a little with Dual layer +R but I dont do many of them anyway)
i got the Panasonic DMR ES25S saturday it plays my back ups fine. i use Taiyo Yuden DVD-R and Verbatim DVD+R DL book typed to DVD-ROM and they play fine . so try book typing your DL byngo
Hi, and thanks. I also use Verbs +R DL's and tried one booktyped and one not. On both methods the machine takes an age to recognise and read compared to Single layer disks and 1 in 3 reads will report "no read". So I open the tray and try again, waiting, waiting, AHHHHH at last it plays the D/Layer disk and as far as I can see, once it has decided to read, the disk it will play through just fine. These are my first two D/L burns and I am at least pleased that I did'nt produce any coasters. But I am concerned about the life expectancy of these & future D/L burns if the Panny struggles a little to read them when they are new. If you have any other comment it would be welcome.
what is your method for backing up the DL? what burner/programs are you using etc.(make sure your drive/burner has up to date firmware} i use Plextor drives and use clonedvd 2 + anydvd which makes the disc region free and tryed several in the new Panasonic DMR ES25S and they playback perfect with no load time what so ever. remember to burn the DL no faster than 4x(which i burn at) or back it down to 2.4x and see if that helps
I use ANYDVD running in the background, Rip ISO with DVDDecrypter, Burn MDS file with IMGBURN at 2.0 or 2.4X. Using Liteon SHW16H5S lightscribe burner with LSOR firmware. I realise there is a new LSOW firmware. I'll stick that on and see how things go. Cheers.
ImgBurn is excellent ,the firmware update may help note; i was going to get this recorder at Best Buy they didn't have the item and told me i could pay for the recorder and they would ship to me from there warehouse and i would get it in a few days so i payed for the recorder cash and left .then i got thinking maybe Circuit City has the item so i called and they did so i took my invoice back in to Best Buy and said i wanted to cancel the order Circuit City has it they gave me my money back i went to Circuit City and got it. well i came home from work tonight and guess what theres a box sitting at my front door and its the recorder from Best Buy lol. its tempting to keep but i guess i better call and have them pick it up huh or hummm maybe not LMAO!!!! what to do !!
