I'm getting a new PC that has Vista Home Premium installed (Dell 530 E2200 3Gb mem w 500Gb HD). I have a new OEM Win XP SP2 I want to also install on it for a dual OS. I was thinking of partitioning off a small piece of HD, say 30 Gb and installing XP to that. Anything I should be aware of... Does Vista play nice?
I've read that you want the OS's on a totally separate drive, but I'm unsure. I dual booted for a while, but I had XP on one drive and Vista on another....I've since kicked XP to the curb.
warning certain dell computers use a sata controller that windows xp doesn't have a driver for and won't install without dells restore cd's
After reading feedback, rather than mess up my new Dell (it's really for the wife to do her stuff with anyway) I decided to put it on my older PC; dual booting with Win 2k. That seems to be working OK. I'm hardly using 2K any more and will probably set my select time down to 1 second on the dual boot at start up soon. Thanks for the info. Mark
