    Hi,

my friend has purchased from meritline, and he likes them very much. The reviews were dated April 2008. The last I heard, new production of Verbatim dl +R's were coming out of India. The ad did not state country of manufacture. As MIS was the gold standard, and it was not mentioned, I must assume MII manufacture. To verify, call them.

SAM's CLUB sells VERBATIM 50PKs +R DUAL LAYER MEDIA $59.99 (Every day low price). I too read the cautions of what's best based on what country they were manufactured in. I've had two spindles in the last 8 or so months both were from INDIA. I burn @ 8x with no problem. Don't use cheap equipment i.e. internal or external dual layer capable burners...you should be fine:).

Memorex used to source the DVD+R DL only from Ritek in order to keep to a single supplier of noted quality and consistency. Imation bought Memorex two years ago. Last month Imation laid off all the Memorex people they had not canned earlier. Judging from the number of Imation quality control people and engineers they have also eliminated from their own ranks, it would appear that cost outweighs any consideration of product quality and consistency these days for the brands Imation now controls--Imation, Memorex, HP, and TDK.

    TDK is also Ritek.

Memorex has two different types of +R DL I believe. Their dark purple packs or Ritek and then they have a redish-pink pack that I believe is something else.

The only reason I say this is when I started with teh redish-pink pack I did not make one coaster at all and Nero 7 work fine with every disc.

When I went to the purple pack and TDK disc Nero 7 started effing up bad. I found a way around this though, I switched burning programs and the Riteks work fine now.
