This is pissing me off. My first comp in my sig. I updated with two wd sata 150 drives. One for the os and one for storage. I got a ddr dual channel of elixor ram pc3200 and updated a little. I then decided to install win 64 pro. Not trial, full version. Anyway its so goddamn bloody slllooowww that my grandma can run faster with her wheelchair. HAHA Any ideas? I tried enabling sata down sprectum in the bios to no avail. It basically takes forever to log into windows. And also takes forever to open up proggies. I can see the hd light kicking and it will sit there for tha a min try to access the proggy. I have run defragment. Fresh install. I also thought it was the usb to ide adapter I talked about in a previous post, but disconecting it didnt help. So any ideas? Or is just western digital drives suck or win 64 suck? And multi tasking forget it. It gets lost real easy...:>
try installing good old fashioned XP pro 32 bit and see if you have the same problem... ive heard a lot of ppl complaining about 64 bit windows all saying its pointless, gay and down right rubbish.
every single person i know who tried out XP 64 went back to standard 32 bit XP within a week if not on the same day as they tried 64. so yeh id say its true that xp64 sucks ass
Then I wonder why they make it out to be so big when it aint? Guess a marketing scheme to make money not like Bill needs anymore. :>
i suppose its the same with every product.. they need some feedback so make people buy it and see how long until they get flooded with complaints lol. i believe the only real purpose for XP 64 is to be like the prequel to windows vista as it will be working in a similar way... by the way vista is crap aswell. i think ill srick with XP 32 bit even when vistas been rolled out
i wouldnt say linux was easier... it works but what the hell can you do with it, you sure as hell cant play games on it. suppose its ok if you just like browsing the net but. when it comes to doing things like installing a program (something us XP users take for granted) its nearly impossible on some linux versions linux is ok for messing around with but im gona stick with windows
i thought xp 64 was for the 64 bit proccessors. looks like you have a 32 bit proccessor. that could be the problem.
@ banshee an AMD 3700+ sandiego core is not a 32 bit processor its a 64 bit one it wouldnt have even attempted to install on a 32 bit computer.
I ran 64bit for like a couple of days and there was no performance gain in anything and i was running 64bit drivers for just about everything. Had no improvements in Graphics, multitasking, video editing and boot up time, just a hassle trying to find 64bit apps. All in all i thought it was crap and Vista lol its just as crap but i wasnt using the lastest build i was using 5259 and 5270 is supposely alot better. Just stick with 32bit XP unless you want to learn something new then go for Mandrake or Suse.
