Backed up movie via clone and upon completion laptop automatically ejected original..so i took it out.
Now it has window saying..please insert media into drive d..and i do..
but the window stays open saying please insert media...with only the cancel or eject options. I have tried several methods to get this backed up but the window remains open and nothing happens..what am i doing wrong??

what media are you putting in there? is it the original DVD or did you put in a blank DVD? I presume you have only one drive for reading and burning! when it ejected the original DVD it's asking for a blank DVD(a recordable). If it's not recognizing your blank DVD then it might need a firmware update. Or you are using crappy media that your drive won't recognize. You can check out the latest firmware here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php
type in your drive in the search and it will show you the latest firmware it has. You can find out what firmware you have on your dirve by downloading this free program, DVDInfo Pro:
    http://dvdinfopro.com
if your drive has older firmware than what's showing at the firmware page.....download the new firmware and install, then try again. If it doesn't work then it's crappy media. Here is a media guide:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm Rule of thumb... buy disks that are made in Japan..... those are top rated disks... Verbatim that is made in Taiwan is also top notch! your choice. Try new media and see if it works.
