I may have run across a protection AnyDVD can't crack. The disc is the R2 PAL of The Medusa Touch released by Carlton. When the disc opens I get a warning message: "AnyDVD is unable to crack all CSS keys on this disc. AnyDVD will guess the correct CSS key, but it is possible that one or more titles on this disc will not play properly. To avoid this message in the future set drive to match the region code of the disc". I use AnyDVD and NeroVision to make NTSC backups of my R2 PAL discs on a regular basis and never seen this before. Could there be an error on the disc? Windows Media Player will still come up on top of the warning message, but freezes about 30sec into playing the disc. Have to CNTRL/ALT/DELETE to get out of it.
The newest Anydvd version (5.9.1.1) has a built in ripper, It just might do the trick. If not try DVD Decrypter IN .ISO Mode (with anydvd) that has helped me with this problem before. Good luck.
Well, even though the warning message comes up AnyDVD does crack it. The freeze up had to do with WMP. I changed the setting so WMP wouldn't start automatically when disc is inserted, inserted disc, when AnyDVD CSS warning came up I closed it and opened disc with CloneDVD2 and Nero both, no problem.
I've just received this error about two days ago. I disabled AnyDVD, and then ripped it with VOBblanker. I used Shrink to compress it, and then decryptor to burn. It worked
It happened whether the CSS Archive was selected or not. Regardless, i got it to work. Just have to close the warning and go on with what you want to do. WMP is what was giving me trouble. Similar to when the message pops up about R1 protected discs saying you cannot play the disc because the drive is not coded for 1 or the region coding has been disabled(AnyDVD). I just close that message(or it closes itself) and go on with what I'm doing.
