    hello there...
just flashed my new dvddrive(nec 3550) with the 1y4 flash
and now anydvd does not work.
this is the info on the drive:
ummary for drive E: (AnyDVD 5.7.3.1)
    Drive (Hardware) Region: free

    Media is a Data DVD.
    Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)

Video DVD (or CD) label: WAR_OF_THE_WORLDS
    Media is CSS protected!
    Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

    RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Changed firstplay: Jump directly to TitleMenu!
    Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
    Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

why does it say that the media is protected?

when i try to rip/burn with clonedvd i get this message:
    this dvd is protected
    and i can not continue.

why and does some know how to fix it?
    thanks

This is just my limited personal experience with AnyDVD. When I upgradged my firmware on my dvd-burner I had to uninstall and then re-install AnyDVD after I rebooted. I also had to do it after I did a clean install of Nero 6 Ultra, but after uninstalling and reinstalling it worked flawlessly. I just think it is something in the configuration that don't like change, but after that never had a problem. Before I did an uninstallin/re-install, It wouldn't even recognize my dvd drive. But alas this is just my peronsal experience. And if you decide to uninstall, keep the reg. info makes re-installing a few seconds easier.

For some reason a re-install can solve many issues. I have found this to be the case with a few bits of software, not just AnyDvd.

This looks like a registry problem to me. If you have AnyDVD, the paid version, you'll have your license "key". I would uninstall all, including your registraion information. Download the latest version, 5.7.3.1, register it with your "key", and this should fix your issue.

    i have the paid version...
    did all that..nada-nothing..nimic..
    installed uninstall-nothing same problem.
the only thing that helped wad to restore the comp to an earlier date..
and now it works why?? don't know
hope it will not happen again
    btw
had some incidents where clone+anydvd could not rip/crack a movie while 1click+dvd43 could...

does dvd43 really interfere with anydvd?(when one works the other is closed)

There has been issues in the past where DVD43 interfered with AnyDvd, I had problems until I uninstalled DVD43. There was a fix if i remember by Slysoft to correct this. It may not have resolved your problem though.
Try uninstalling DVD43, re-boot then give it a whirl with just AnyDvd.
Wish you told us this before! LOL!!

Hindsight is truly a wonderful thing!

no no no....i did uninstalled dvd43!
when the problems began i uninstalled anydvd and installed dvd43.
    and could work with 1click..
    however,since i wanted to burn with any+and clone i did a restore.
after the restore i uninstalled the dvd43 -reboot...installed aanydvd -reboot..
    now it works..
wanted to know why it happened in the first place..and, i thought that the warning about conflict between any and dvd43 was just a publicity stunt from anydvd.
seems that there is really a conflict and i am just too paranoid... :)

SlySoft do not go around making up stories, they do a cracking job! I am glad you have got it working, so there probably was a conflict.

With all those zeros & ones flying around a PC it is really not surprising that there are conflicts occassionally!

If you ever had DVD43free on your computer AnyDVD will conflict with it, you have to search and delete all instances of dvd43free fro AnyDVD to work correctly, they both compete for the same resources

    @ avinka,
I would recommend using a Registry Cleaner like the one I use regularly. It's called Ccleaner (Crap Cleaner) & it's Free. I'll give you the link to download it. Warinig though,
just do a "Scan for Issues". Nothing else, Fix all issues. It will ask you if you want to save the registry entries, I would save them. They'll go in your documents folder by default. Then select fix all. Windows Loves to save registry entries for everything! Occasionally cleaning these out really helps! Run "scan for issues" and fix all till it finds no issues. It will help a lot, then defragment your hard drive (c).See if this helps. here's the link to get Ccleaner
