i tried using decypter but had the same problem it would only go 2 97% and on shrink when it gets to the 98% it says

DVD shrink encountered an error and connot continue.

    faild to read file "D:/"

    datat error (cyclic redundancy check).

    what do i do now?

A CRC means your disc is dirty, scratched or you have a bad pressing.
Try cleaning after the disc. Also if you are doing a full disc back up - try movie only - you won't have a menu though. Sometimes the last past of the disc is only the extras.
edited to add: In the above link to guides there is a section for hard to rip dvd's w/ decrypter. You can also try that.

If you can afford it, just buy it! It is worth it. Decrypter and DVD43 are valuable tools also as mentioned before.

I'm with you guys. I bought the AnyDVD/CloneDVD combo and it is now what I use 90% of the time. I also use DDDecrypter/Shrink, but not as much as the other combo. Only 1 coaster out of my last 50-pack and it was the very last dvd on the spindle. I think I may have screwed that one up.

Even if you do not want to buy the combo package at least spring for AnyDVD, it is well worth the 40.00, and they are excellent about updates.

Yeah CloneDVD is really a handy prog, I like the splitting capabilities and being able to retain menus on both disks. This has been working really great for TV episodal disks.

I have not been having any problems with DVDD or AnyDVD, and as for ripguard unless they put a big sticky on the disk I wouldn't know if it was there or not.
